Following the success of sell-out events in 2013 and 2014, the TEDxCharlottesville all-volunteer committee is prepared to present another dynamic program designed to inspire the community to open up to the possibility of “What If…”
"The focus on “What If…” will encourage consideration of how the world would look different when we suspend our judgment. The core of age-old questions asked by explorers (“What if the world isn’t flat?”), scientists (“What would happen if you could split an atom?”), and artists at the start of every new piece of work, “What If…” inspires new thinking, demands introspection, and challenges the status quo. The conference will include a wide array of speakers and performers, with more to be announced throughout the summer."
Tickets are $88 for the full day of speakers. That may seem like a hefty ticket cost, but the price includes a continental breakfast (who can say no to a continental breakfast?), lunch, and an invite to the after party at the Jefferson Theater.
To make the TEDxCharlottesville event as accessible as possible, 200 complimentary tickets will be distributed to educational and non-profit groups in the community.
Initial speakers include:
• Josef P. Rauschecker - Neuroscientist
• Geoff Luck – Filmmaker Executive Producer at National Geographic TV
• Deborah Lawrence - Biogeochemist and Tropical Ecosystem Ecologist
• Elliott Woods – Writer, Photographer
• Deirdre Enright - Director of Investigation, Innocence Project Clinic
