Visit The Oakland School - A place that prepares its students for success
We love President’s Day in VA. Why shouldn’t we? Eight of our presidents have called our state, Virginia, home. So how is one to celebrate this day? We have a suggestion: visit Oakland School this Monday, February 20th, at 10:00am for their Open House.
The Oakland School is nestled in the countryside of Troy, VA, about 20 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, on 450 acres of picturesque property. There you can see the old white school house, wander the trails, and meet the teachers and staff.
Here, students who have had difficulties in traditional academic environments benefit from an alternative approach to learning. The Oakland School provides an original approach to education for children, including individualized one-to-one instruction. The program is designed to equip children with social and academic skills needed return to a regular classroom setting.
We can only imagine what young Thomas Jefferson, sitting in his classroom was thinking. Was he thinking that he would one day he would write a Declaration of Independence, or lead a nation, or did he just dream about playing outside? Oakland gives their kids both recreation in the Virginia countryside and the ability to dream, and we think that’s a pretty great combination. You can support Oakland School, just by visiting this Monday, and celebrate that one of their students could be president one day.
